COURSE
DESCRIPTION
The Instructor
Trainee Course introduces and prepares the
students for a career in instructional methods in the Cosmetology
field as mandated by the Washington State Department of Licensing.
The course consists of 150 hours of classroom, assigned study, 450
hours of assisted clinic supervision.
At the completion of this course, the student will:
- Have knowledge
and understanding of the basic principals of teaching.
- Be able to
perform all the tasks taught in this course, following proper
procedures.
- Be capable
of advancing to the clinical supervision level of Cosmetology,
Manicuring, Barbering, Esthetics School.
- Be prepared
for the Washington State Instructor Exam.
REQUIRED
TEXTS
Master Educator and accompanying work book, Milady Publishing Corporation,
Albany, New York.
COURSE FORMAT
The first 150 hours will be spent learning the basic instructional
skills such as lesson planning, personal and professional conduct,
classroom management and evaluation methods and procedures. The
remaining 450 hours consist of assisting, observing, and supervising
clinic activities. Planning and conducting theory classes utilizing
acquired techniques involving creativity, visual aids, and proven
teaching strategies under the supervision of the assigned licensed
instructor trainer. All subjects taught shall be tested by a series
of written and practical exams designed to measure student’s
knowledge and skills at 40 and 500 hours. Classes are conducted
Tuesday through Saturday. |
